Some foods contain ingredients that could help you maintain a smooth, flexible and wrinkle-free skin. Here’s a good reason to pay a visit to the farmer’s market today!
Strawberries
Strawberries contain more vitamin C than oranges and grapefruit. Studies show that people who eat foods rich in vitamin C have less wrinkles, and also less problems associated with the aging of skin that people who don’t consume this vitamin.
Vitamin C fights against free radicals, who damage skin collagen and cells, leading to wrinkles. To have a smoother and better hydrated skin, apply a mask such as the one below on your face twice a week, and eat lots of rich vitamin C foods daily.
Face mask: in a blender, combine one cup of fresh or frozen strawberries (or a mix of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries – they’re all excellent antioxidants) with a cup of plain or vanilla yogurt and one and a half tablespoon honey. You can eat some of this mixture, but make sure you reserve enough for your face and cleavage. Apply the mask and leave it on the skin for about 8 minutes, then wash it off.
Pumpkin
Pumpkins contain carotinoids (pigments that fight against the wrinkles and neutralize the free radicals in the skin). Pumpkins are very rich in vitamins C, E and A, and also in enzymes which help clean the face. Even more, pumpkins also have hydrating qualities.
Even though pumpkin seeds are a very nutritious snack, the most beneficial antioxidants for the skin can be found in the pumpkin pulp. You can eat it, but remember to also apply the following mask on the face and cleavage once a month:
Facial mask: in a blender, mix two cups of pumpkin, 4 cups of low-fat vanilla yogurt, 4 tablespoons honey and one tablespoon cinnamon. Apply this mixture and leave it for about 10 minutes, then wash your face and cleavage with lukewarm water. This mask will hydrate and smoothen your skin.
Olive Oil
The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of olive oil are beneficial not only inside our bodies, but also on the outside. Olive oil was used for its therapeutic qualities since ancient times (the Romans, for example, used it for as a massage oil). Used on the skin, olive oil makes it smoother and more luminous. When consumed internally, it is a good antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
Inflammations are dangerous not only for causing diseases, they are also a major cause for the apparition of wrinkles and aging of the skin. For this reason, you must use olive oil in your diet, but also apply it on your face and lips. If you have dry skin, this treatment will be extremely beneficial to you.
Green Tea
A cup of green tea will relax you, but will also do much more to your body. Green tea is full of antioxidants that fight against inflammations and protect you against skin cancer.
After having prepared the tea, put the tea bags in the refrigerator, leaving them to cool for a few minutes, then place them on your eyelids for about 10-15 minutes. Green tea contains tannins, which act as astringent substances that help reduce the puffiness of the eyes.
