Natural erectile dysfunction treatments

For many men, dealing with erectile dysfunction is incredibly embarrassing. In fact, some say it is the most embarrassing health issue a man can face, although others may disagree. However, because of the stigma attached to erectile dysfunction, many men are hesitant to speak to their doctors about it or to purchase medication or other products to help with the issue. Instead, they look for a natural way of treating the condition that doesn’t necessarily announce to everyone that they are dealing with erectile dysfunction. Fortunately, there are several different natural remedies that work.

One of these is ginkgo, an herb. It is often used by those who are experiencing erectile dysfunction and other sexual side effects caused by antidepressant medication. Ginkgo seems to work by increasing blood flow to the penis and by relaxing certain muscles. Some studies have shown that ginkgo helped about half the men who took it after about six months. However, other studies have shown that ginkgo doesn’t seem to help with erectile dysfunction at all.

There are several other herbal solutions out there, and many of them do not have any side effects when you use them correctly. Just because they are herbal remedies and all natural, however, does not mean that you can ignore dosage amounts—never take more than is suggested. The herbs that may help with erectile dysfunction include Asian ginseng, damiana, and muria puama.

For some men, simply changing their diet may be enough to combat erectile dysfunction. Diets high in fruit, vegetables, beans, soy, seeds, whole grain foods, olive oil, and cold water fish like sardines, salmon, and tuna, can be effective. Any food that is fresh, unprocessed, or whole is good. You should try to avoid refined foods, caffeine, sugar, fried food, and dairy products, and if possible, eliminate any food that seems to affect your body (food you’re allergic to, etc.). You should also drink a good amount of water: half of your body weight in ounces if at all possible.

Taking nutritional supplements is another natural way of dealing with erectile dysfunction. A daily multivitamin will help to even out your body and will take care of any possible deficiency you may have. If you know you’re lacking in specific vitamins, taking a supplement may here there too.

Taking extra zinc is a good option for those dealing with erectile dysfunction. If your body is dealing with a zinc deficiency, it can lead to a drop in your sex drive and even to erectile dysfunction. Those who have digestive diseases, some liver and kidney diseases, diabetes, or are using diuretics long-term may have low zinc levels. Taking about 30 mg of zinc a day can be enough to eliminate a deficiency.

You might also want to take Vitamin C (1000 mg 3 times a day) or Vitamin E (400 IUs a day). Both of these vitamins can have an impact on your sex drive. There are some other supplements you may want to take, but you should consult with your doctor before taking them just to make certain they will not interfere with any medication you may be on or cause any condition you may have to worsen. They include bioflavonoids (1000 mg a day), selenium (200 mcg a day), and flaxseed meal. With the flaxseed, you need to grind up two to four tablespoons a day. While you can take one tablespoon of flaxseed oil in place of the flaxseed meal, the meal has more vitamins, lignan, and fiber. Finally, you can take between 1000 and 3000 mg of inositol hexaniacinate daily to help lower your cholesterol and improve your circulation. Note that anyone with diabetes should not take inositol hexaniacinate.
