Men’s skin care

Skin care is very important for all people. We all want to keep our skin looking nice and youthful for as long as possible. Keeping our faces free of acne or sun damage is also very important for both men and women. For men, skin care may be thought of a little less. Most women take pride in looking young and wrinkle free but it seems that a lot of men could really care less. If you are one of those men that do not care, you should think again.

Taking care of our skin is extremely important. We need to protect our faces from all sort of damage. Everyday we step outside we are exposing our bodies to all sorts of toxins. There are all types of pollutants in the air, poor weather conditions and not to mention all the UV rays that we are exposed to daily.

Men, in order to care for your skin you do not need to spend hours in the bathroom primping before you leave your house. Skin care can be made simple and add just a couple extra minutes to your daily routine.

One easy way of taking care of your skin is by switching a few products in the shower in the morning. Instead of using an ordinary bar of soap, try using a special cleanser just for the face. This is beneficial because most regular soaps strip our faces of much needed natural oils. When we take away all the natural oils on our bodies it dries out our skin and leaves it unprotected against all sorts of poor conditions. Switching to a facial cleanser will help remove the dirt yet leave the important natural oils our faces need. Another quick switch in the shower is to include an exfoliating body wash to the routine. You do not have to use this everyday but it is a good idea to use an exfoliating body wash to remove all the dead skin cells from the body regularly. This gives your skin the ability make new healthier skin cells. Using a loofah sponge daily to scrub off the dead skin cells is also a good idea, even if using with your regular soap.

For men, shaving can be part of your daily routine as well and avoiding razor burn can become a challenge. Before shaving you should make sure your pores are open. If you shave directly after leaving the shower you should be okay, but for those that shave before the shower you should be sure to put a hot washcloth on the face for about a minute prior to shaving. This will allow the pores to open and the hair to loosen and shave off more easily. Avoid using shaving creams and instead opt for shaving gels. Also stick to a nice razor instead of a throw away razor that does not offer much movement. After shaving, wash the face to get rid of any germs or oils that may be released form the pores. Follow up with tea tree oil, lavender oil, sage oil or aloe vera to soothe the skin and help reduce the risk of acne or razor bumps.

Finish up your morning routine by adding sun screen to protect you from harmful UV rays. You may have a job that requires you to work outdoors which would mean that it is very important to stay protected. Even for those who do not work outdoors it is still extremely important to take precautions against sun damage. Just a long car ride in rush hour traffic can cause sun damage.

By using these very easy skin care techniques now, you can prevent further damage to your skin and you will be very thankful in the future.
