Kidney cleanse

The kidneys are responsible for performing many important tasks in the body. They remove wastes and water from the blood, balance chemicals throughout the body, help control blood pressure, produce vitamin D for the bones, help produce red blood cells and release hormones. As you can see, your kidneys are vital organs that need to be treated with care. Making sure your kidneys stay in great shape means that you can avoid painful conditions that stem from having unhealthy kidney functioning.

In order to ensure your kidneys stay in tip-top shape you need to make sure they are cleansed often and free of unwanted toxins that build up and cause painful kidney stones or infections. Cleansing the kidneys is an easy process that can be done in the comfort of your home. In order to cleanse your kidneys you need to consume large amounts of liquids. By consuming large amounts of liquids you can flush out toxins. You can also cleanse the kidneys by eating a lot of raw fruit and vegetables while drinking the extra fluids. Foods that are really good at flushing the kidneys are those that contain a lot of juice. The best part of cleansing your kidneys by eating raw fruits and vegetables is you get to add lots of wonderful vitamins and minerals to your diet. Your body will thank you for all the nutrients and in the process you will be consuming extra fiber which will detoxify your colon as well.

Some people like to detox the kidneys by going on a fast. A fast is when you stop eating and drink only fluids for an extended amount of time. There are different lengths of time that are recommended. Anywhere from 1 to 10 days can allow the body time to eliminate toxins. The longer the fast the more toxins that will be released, however, you should make sure you are getting plenty of nutrients from juices made of fruits and vegetables to avoid getting malnourished. Any time you fast, you allow your body time to relax from the inside. This means it does not have to work extra hard to digest foods and battle the toxins inside the body. Some fasts involve drinking a gallon of water and a gallon of apple juice every day. Other fasts involve drinking a lot of juices and water along side special detoxifying teas and taking certain herbs that are known to eliminate toxins in the body. Watermelon is also supposed to help with flushing the kidneys as well. By eating several watermelons over a period of a few days you can provide your body with nutrients while allowing the kidneys enough liquids for the detox process.

When going through a kidney detox, it is important not to drink fluids that are caffeinated or alcoholic. These are both very harsh on the kidneys. It is also a good rule of thumb to avoid foods that are high in fat, sugars and sodium on a regular basis. These foods can be detrimental to the kidneys as well as other vital organs of the body.

Before dedicating yourself to a much needed kidney cleanse you should always consult your doctor first. Some people who have certain illness or are on special medications may not be able to go a long time without food. Other people who should not attempt a fast are women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Although drinking plenty of juice can sustain a person for a few days, it does not contain enough calories, fats or proteins that are needed during pregnancy or lactation. If you want to start a kidney cleanse routine but are not sure the best method to use, consulting a dietician or a holistic health advisor may be of great benefit. These people are trained to know much more about the way the body works and how natural healing through the use of natures ingredients can help you feel better and have healthier kidneys.
