Before and after the peeling process takes place, it is mandatory for patients to abide by a few cautions. The patient is forbidden to use any sort of topical ointment such as Retin A. Any sort of glycolic product is strictly prohibited as well. Also it is very important that the area of treatment does not get shaved or waxed because open pores may cause serious damages. Patients are suggested to avoid sun exposure for at least a week after the treatment as the skin becomes very sensitive after the procedure. Also it is important not to use any cosmetics between 3 hours of the procedure.

It is very important that after the Glycolic Facial Peel, clients keep their skin vitalized. Cleansing, toning and moisturizing should be a daily procedure. Sunscreen should definitely be used on a regular basis as well, applied twice a day. Using umbrellas or full sleeved clothes are also recommended at extreme conditions. If one peel is not enough, the clients usually have to wait a month or a month and a half before repeating the facial peel. However, this procedure may not be suitable for many purposes. Thus, it is best to consult a dermatologist and run a few tests before jumping into the treatment.

To minimize complications choosing the right peel for each particular skin type is a must. Darker skin people are more prone to pigmentation problems. In this case skin preparation may help to reduce the rate of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Also NO sun exposure before and after peel as risk in pigmentation can increase dramatically
