Cellulite is the dimples that people have on their thighs, buttocks and often stomach. Cellulite is caused by fat deposits that get bunched up inside the body and cause a dimpled look to the skin.
It has been compared to the look of cottage cheese or an orange peel since the dimples are not in a regular pattern. The fat cells that are trapped in the deposits under the skin are full of toxins. Toxins can form due to smoking, drinking alcohol, caffeine, medications, junk foods, eating red meats, animal fats, excessive dairy and many others. Cellulite is found mainly in women and is not seen in men too often. Majority women experience cellulite somewhere on their thighs or buttocks after the adolescent years. This is due to hormones and genetics. Times that people may find they start to develop cellulite is during puberty, pregnancy, menopause, or when taking birth control pills. Estrogen can play an important role in the formation of cellulite since estrogen plays a big role in determining where fat gets stored in the body.
Cellulite can appear in women of all shapes and sizes. A lot of people assume that a person must be overweight if they have cellulite but this is not the case at all. A lot of very lean women also suffer from cellulite, although being overweight and out of shape can cause the appearance of the cellulite to look worse. Poor nutrition, dehydration and lack of exercise can also cause cellulite to become more obvious.
Since cellulite does not cause any physical harm to a person, it is often overlooked. For others, cellulite can cause serious self-esteem issues. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for taking care of cellulite. However, there have been many products and procedures invented to cure this condition.
You can find all sorts of creams and lotions that are designed to tighten and firm the skin which can help eliminate the look of cellulite. The problem with cellulite is that since it comes from under the skin, there is no magic potion that you can put on your skin to take the fat out. The best way to help minimize cellulite is by making some lifestyle changes that eliminate toxins and help with the blood flow and hydration of the body. Exercising regularly is the first step. Avoid sitting for long periods of time so that the blood flow is not hindered. Eat a diet full of fiber and antioxidants. Get rid of fatty, greasy foods, along with sugar and salt filled junk. Drink plenty of water and avoid beverages that are bad for you. You should limit beverages containing caffeine, alcohol and too much sugar. Smoking is another habit to avoid. Cigarettes contain so many toxins that our body has no way of getting rid of therefore they end up causing harm to our bodies inside and out.
There are a few other methods that can be used in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle to help minimize cellulite, although there is not one in particular that will work for everyone. Deep tissue massage and heat therapies can be used to help loosed up and breakdown the fats that are stored inside the skin layer. By massaging the fat cells, they may be more likely to release toxins that are stored inside. Another method is referred to as dry skin brushing. This consists of taking a bristle brush and stroking the problem areas for a few minutes daily in order to improve circulation.
Regardless what you methods you try to rid your body of cellulite, not everyone responds the same to the same way. Just stay healthy and active and you are more likely to accomplish your goals.
