Anti-wrinkle products

There is a huge emphasis today that is placed on staying as young and beautiful looking as possible. This means getting rid of those pesky wrinkles that come along as we start to get older. Women spend millions of dollars every year trying out creams, lotions, injections, dermabrasions, and even surgery to make themselves look and feel younger for just a while longer.

There are hundreds of anti-wrinkle products on the market today. It can give the consumer a real headache trying to figure out which product will work without having to spend their whole paycheck! No one wants to spend what some of these preparations cost only to find out that they were not going to get the results they wanted even after spending a lot of money.

In order to get anti-wrinkle products that will work for you, it is necessary to do some research and find out which ingredients are in the products you intend to purchase. As we have found out the hard way, no two wrinkle creams are alike! We have also found out by trial and error that some creams do not perform as well as others do. So start by knowing which ingredients you need in the products you want before you go to the store to purchase them.

Next you need to know your own skin. Do you have dry skin that is sensitive? If so, then you may not be able to tolerate some of the harsh creams that have Retin A in them. You may fare better with some other preparations. Ask for samples if possible to take home and try. Most of the better cosmetic lines will give samples if asked. This way you do not spend money until you are sure you can tolerate the product.

Now, let’s take a look at the individual ingredients in some of the better anti-wrinkle creams on the market and see how they work. This will give you a better idea as to how the product works and which product will work out better for you.

First let’s take a look at Argireline. This is an amino peptide that is also known as Acetyl-Hexapeptide 3. This amino peptide is designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It works very similarly to the way that Botox injections work. Argireline helps to relax the muscles by reducing the amount of neurotransmitters that are able to control the amount and intensity of muscle contractions in the face and neck. The premise is that when the muscles relax, the skin then will flatten in appearance and relax. This will reduce the amount of wrinkles that are seen on the face and neck. Some of the products that are on the market now that contain Argireline are Strivectin SD and Peter Roth Thomas’s Unwrinkle. When looking for products with Argireline, they should have at least 10% concentration to be effective.

Retinol is another ingredient that is in a lot of anti-wrinkle products. Retinol is an antioxidant. This is the first antioxidant to be used in a wrinkle cream. The purpose of an antioxidant is to render free radicals harmless. As far as our skin is concerned, they remove unstable oxygen molecules that can dehydrate our skin cells and hasten wrinkle formation. Retinol is a Vitamin A compound. It should not be used by pregnant women as it can cause birth defects in the fetus. There are many Retinol products on the market. There is Vitamin A preparation called Tretonin that can be prescribed by a dermatologist or other physician for wrinkles if a stronger cream is needed.

Alpha-hydroxy acids are acids that are derived from fruits that produce sugar. The purpose of these acids are to remove the dead and outer layers of skin. They exfoliate the dead skin and allow the smooth layers of skin underneath to grow and come to the surface. This makes the skin look and feel younger and more vibrant. Preparations with these acids can be purchased on the market or stronger preparations can be obtained from medical professionals in the form of facial peels. These acids do increase sensitivity to the sun so exposure should be avoided and sunscreen should be applied during use and for seven days after use.

Coenzyme Q10 and green tea extract are two other ingredients that should be looked for in anti-wrinkle preparations. CoQ-10 is a nutrient that helps to regulate the energy that is produced at the cellular level. There have been some studies that have shown that this ingredient has helped to reduce fine lines and wrinkles especially around the eyes. The studies also showed that it helped reduce the effects of aging from sun exposure. Green tea extract is an antioxidant that works to combat free radicals that can cause aging of the skin and other organs.

After doing research and knowing which products will give you the results that you need, you can be assured of getting the right product for the right price! Remember no two products are the same! Ask for samples if you are unsure of a product.
